| Name: | Morpheus D. Duvall |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 06-25 |
| Location: | United States |
NAME: Morpheus D. Duvall
AGE: 32, but his age is indiscernible through his many surgeries
GENDER: Male Human, Female Tyrant
ROLE IN CANON: Antagonist
FANDOM/MEDIUM: Resident Evil:Dead Aim
TIMELINE PERIOD: 2002
ABILITIES: As a human Morpheus' only ability is his average marksmanship. As a Tyrant he stands as a slender, feminine figured creature with control over 'his' own electrical field as well as others, allowing him some invulnerability against common weaponry of the time, apart from anything energy related.
CHARACTER HISTORY: Morpheus was initially a researcher for Umbrella Inc. but grew distanced when he was one of the scapegoats for The Arklay Mansion incident. Through this distancing he slowly grew more and more enraged and his sanity began slipping from the grand smearing that Umbrella had done to him. It not only ruined his name, but it also blacklisted him in any possible career. In rage, he stole several samples of the T-virus as well as the tG-Virus, which was in it's experimental stages, for use in a grand plan of revenge.
Morpheus, several colleagues, a group of mercenaries and several smuggled B.O.Ws stolen from Umbrella shortly began Morpheus' plans. They hijacked one of Umbrella's Ocean cruisers called the Spencer Rain. Morpheus intended to use the viruses he had collected to launch viral warheads into different parts of the world should his demands were not met. Naturally much of his demands were vast sums of currency. He did not care specifically how much, but he demanded the net worth be sums enough to support an entire country for a vast many years. A naturally ridiculous sum, but it too was part of his plan. He also demanded land. Specifically a fair portion of Africa. Both of which would create the man's vision of a perfect world. A perfect world had it not been for the efforts of Bruce McGivern.
Bruce McGivern, a US STRATCOM member was assigned to thwart Morpheus' plans, and upon hearing that such a man was attempting to do such, Morpheus personally hunted Bruce down until he managed to hold him at gunpoint. Bruce himself would have ended up dead if it wasn't for a timely grenade by another saboteur, Fong Ling. The grenade not only allowed Bruce to escape, but also critically wounded Morpheus, resulting in his use of the tG-Virus upon himself, extending his life and greatly enhancing his own physical prowess.
Hunting the two saboteurs became problematic even with Morpheus' newfound powers. The continous battles between the two gradually took an effect on Morpheus' body. Like the G-virus, the constant regeneration of his body began pulling upon his mental facilities until it finally collapsed, turning Morpheus from what once was a beautiful weapon into a behemoth, gelatinous flesh pile. In the very end the constant regenerations became too frequent, and the monster that once was the man exploded from the constant mutations.
CHARACTER PERSONALITY: Morpheus is a double edged sword. More often than not his own strengths also contain his weaknesses. He is a very proud man, and his very will and determination deteriorate only when his adversities are in exponential odds against him. His very narcissistic nature fuels his desire to surpass those around him. Alone he is not nearly as bright or as logical as other scientists in the field but his believe in his own superiority and his efforts to surpass those he normally would be unable to lead to creative, if not devious results. He is not below manipulation, but would only do such should the greater picture prove to have an air of beauty behind it. His strong desire for beauty leads to a more artistic, and at times unorthodox methods, making him at times unpredictable, and at others plainly insane. His creed to beauty is similar to his drive and his honor. Should he see things as beautiful he would be willing to aid in the endeavor, however should he see something as hideous and cold, he may stop working or even sabotage the attempt whilst he creates a more suitable substitution in his mind, even if it is not the most sound of ideas.
Morpheus pride is to the point of excessive hubris. He believes that if anything, he should be in charge of what he is assigned to, and that his will, no matter how impossible, should and would be done. It makes him a rather impossible person to work with, let alone have as a subordinate. His ideas and solutions tend to be overdone, and costly due to his obsession with beauty, and anything that may be considered ugly or overtly underhanded he would refuse to do because of the ugly connotations behind it. Hideousness to him is a disease, and he refuses to be contaminated by it. It is also within his desire for beauty he can be both easily swayed and easily repulsed.
Though in the eyes of the average person Morpheus may be seen as simply insane, he is generally in tune with the world, and completely is aware of the happenings that he witnesses, albeit he may exaggerate. Morpheus is devoutly loyal to those that serve him, and under normal conditions will listen and be open enough to hear their views and concerns. He also respects those who create both on an artistic and scientific level, granted should he disagree with their tastes he will verbally say so, but inwardly he places a mutual level of respect for the efforts. He also aims and generally achieves his goals in a straightforward manner, and does not dispute command unless it is questionable to his conscious.
Morpheus' warped views and focus of beauty is the root of his flaws. His narcissistic nature causes him to overlook the correct methods with his own, and should he fail his anger vents to those around him. Failure in anything he does also leads to generally violent or inappropriate ends. Killing is something he finds as a solution to his problems, and would not hesitate to kill to achieve his means.
